I scooped them up nonchalantly and slipped them in my bag, as I would a pack of gum or those caramel flavored candies – you know, the ones every grandmother holds onto in hopes of convincing her grandchildren to stick around just a moment longer – you know, the ones covered in lint and hope, buried in that well-worn purse she’s carried for years –
you know the one.
Then I went home to say goodbye;
